These are the most frequently asked questions

  • Can the deadline for scholarship application be extended?
    The deadlines for Erasmus scholarship application cannot be extended. In very exceptional cases recommendation letters can also be sent in later.
  • How many Erasmus Mundus scholarships will you provide?
    On average between 20-25 EMJM scholarships per year will be awarded.
  • How many applications do you receive every year?
    On average we receive around 700 applications per academic year.
  • Is it necessary to have English tests done at the moment of applying? Or can I take the test after review of my application or being admitted to the program?
    The deadline to submit the results of a sufficient English test is 1 February 2025. You could submit your application for admission before 6 January 2025 without English test results and then upload the test results later. But if you wish to be considered for Erasmus Mundus scholarship, you need to submit English test results by 1 February at the latest.
  • I am from one of the countries listed under the list of countries that require an English language certificate. But I have followed several years of education in English. Do I still need to present you with a TOEFL or IELTS test result?
    Yes. If your country is not among the countries in the exemption list you are requested to do the English test. The only exception that we make is if you did your BSc study in a native English speaking country.
  • I have not yet completed my bachelor degree. Can I apply?
    Students in their last year of BSc study can also apply. They need to show proof of their studies with a duly signed and stamped statement that declares that they are currently in their last year. They need to include the transcript of records showing all courses completed and all uncompleted courses for which they are enrolled. The statement should mention in which month they are expecting to obtain the diploma. A valid bachelor diploma (a temporary diploma is acceptable for last year students) will be required no later than August 15 of the year the program starts
  • I have completed my studies but don't have a transcript of records (yet)
    your application is not valid and cannot be accepted without a full transcript of records including grades obtained and showing the average mark. Authenticated or certified copies are copies with an official stamp to verify that the copies are true copies of original documents. This official stamp may be from one of the following: a solicitor/notary, the educational institution from where the student gained the diplomas or the local council/local authority/local government office. Please include the official grading system used by the university or country, if this is not clearly explained on the flip side of the transcript.
  • To whom should motivation and recommendation letters be addressed?
    Motivation and recommendation letters can be addressed to the coordinator of the programme, or "To whom it may concern".
  • When does the programme officially start?
    The academic programme at UCT Prague will start mid September. You are requested to arrive in Prague about a week earlier for registration and introduction
  • Can I apply for more than one Erasmus Mundus programme and scholarship?
    You are kindly requested to apply to one Erasmus Mundus programme only in a particular year. Please limit your application to the programme for which you stand a fair chance of being selected.
  • Can I send my documents in another language than English?
    Communication and all the official documents including BSc diplomas / transcripts of records/ certificates etc., should be in the original language and in English. This does not count for passports. If you cannot arrange translation of the documents before the application deadline, you can send us an unofficial English translation for the time being. Should you be selected for a scholarship, we need to receive your BSc documents translated by a certified (sworn) translator. At that moment, you need to send us a certified copy of the original document (in the language that is not English) with an original stamp, and a certified copy of the translation.
  • When can I expect the outcome of my application?
    We expect to inform all applicants in April 2025 about the outcome of their application for admission and scholarship. In case you will not be selected for a scholarship, you may consider to pay the cost by other means.
  • If I wish to pay for the programme by other means, what is the deadline to pay?
    The deadline to make your payment is 15 April 2025. However, with regard to long visa procedures for Czech Republic you are strongly advised to send your financial confirmation well before that date. If you are from a country for which you do not need a visa for Czech Republic, the deadline of payment is 31 July.
  • What are the costs of the programme, if I wish to pay by other means than Erasmus scholarship?
    Tuition fee payable: EURO 18,000.00 (excluding VAT) for 2-year programme. Other costs:​​ Insurance: EURO 40 per month / EURO 960 total Visa cost estimated at EURO 1000 for the complete programme In addition, we estimate that a student may need on average EURO 1400 per month to cover costs of living and travelling between partner institutes.
  • Can the recommendation letters be sent in anonymously?
    If desired by the referee, the recommendation letters can be sent anonymously by the referees to the email address: erasmusregistration+imete@un-ihe.org ; in that case a letter with a brief statement indicating this preference can be submitted instead of the recommendation letter in the online submission form. Please ask the referee to use your full name or a similar remark.
